About Heart of Gold Siberian Cattery

Heart of Gold Siberian Cattery is run by Cindy Jones, owner and breeder since 2005. Over the years, caring for Siberian cats has become second nature to me. My cats are well-bred, animated, affectionate creatures that simply want to be loved. I have three adult Siberian males in my breeding program, including one world champion. Each cat in my cattery is cared for with close attention to health, temperament, grooming, and overall well-being.

A Private Closed Cattery

Heart of Gold Siberian Cattery is a closed cattery, which means my cats and kittens are raised in a private, controlled home environment. I do not allow public or in-home visits to see the cats or kittens in person. This helps protect the health, safety, and privacy of my cats, kittens, and home. A closed cattery helps reduce the risk of outside exposure to illnesses or issues that can be brought in from other homes, shelters, catteries, or pet-related environments, including concerns like ringworm, fleas, and other health risks. While my home is not open to visitors, I believe in staying connected with families through other means. I provide transparency through communication, photos, and videos so you can feel informed and comfortable throughout the process.

Why I Choose a Closed Cattery

A closed cattery allows me to create the safest and most comfortable environment possible for my cats and kittens. It also gives me the ability to closely monitor their daily care, health, and development. The benefits of a closed cattery include:
  • A Private Home Setting: Cats and kittens are raised in my family home, not a commercial or public facility.
  • Health and Biosecurity: Limiting outside access helps reduce the risk of disease transmission.
  • Close Monitoring: I can carefully watch each cat’s weight, coat condition, eating habits, and overall wellness.
  • Safety and Privacy: This protects my family, my pets, and the cats from unnecessary outside risks.
  • Ongoing Communication: Families can stay informed through photos, videos, and direct updates.

Daily Life at Heart of Gold

My cattery is located on private acreage on the west side of Sawnee Mountain, surrounded by wildlife. I love the privacy and peaceful setting of my property. My home is spacious, and my cattery is truly a labor of love. Daily care includes constant attention to the health, grooming, and comfort of every cat on the premises. I scoop litter boxes using premium litter, mop and sweep floors in the enclosed deck and attached sunroom, wash bedding and rugs, and regularly clean kitten whelping pens. Each morning, I feed premium wet cat food to my cats and kittens while checking that everyone is eating, drinking water, and using the litter box properly. I pay close attention to weight, coat condition, and behavior. I also make time to talk to my cats, hold them, pet them, and give them individual affection before returning to the daily chores that keep their environment clean and comfortable.

Siberian Cats and Allergies

Siberian cats are often known for being more tolerable for some people with mild to moderate cat allergies. However, I do not believe Siberian cats should be described as completely hypoallergenic. Many Siberians may produce lower levels of Fel d 1, the primary cat allergen, but results vary from cat to cat and person to person. My cattery does not test for the Fel d 1 protein. UC Davis, which provides available genetic testing for my cattery, has told me there is no science behind testing for Fel d 1. For that reason, I have not tested my cats for this protein. Since 2005, I have had one kitten returned due to allergies. If allergies are a concern for your family, I encourage you to call me so we can talk through it together.

Bringing Your Kitten Home

When it is time to bring your kitten home, you may drive to my home for pickup. Families may also choose to hire a courier or fly to Atlanta to make arrangements themselves. My goal is always to help each kitten transition into a loving home with care, patience, and thoughtful communication.

Carrying on the Tradition

After so many years as a breeder, the daily care of multiple cats has become a natural rhythm of life. One day, when I retire, it is my hope to sell my property to another cat lover who can carry on the tradition of raising purebreds with the same devotion and respect. Until then, I continue to give my cats and kittens my best—every day, in every way.
